Staff are friendly and take good care of you. Rooms were clean and updated. It was nice staying in the park as there is so much to do and explore nearby.
The scenery was breath taking, the actual lodge was rustic. The bed mattress I slept on was metal frame and very firm and uncomfortable, the cold water tap didn't work in the shower, the main hallway smelt like urin and no coffee maker in the room. The meals were delicious and the staff was very friendly.
I can't think of a more tranquil place to stay and unwind in the Campbell River region. The view and location are nothing short of magical. I appreciate the lake front setting when ocean front seems to be the mainstream norm.
We got a large cabin with loft right on the lakeside (11?). Three bedrooms for adults and a loft for a crew of kids. Firewood provided and cheap watercraft rentals. A fantastic week. They have a wood fired sauna right on the Lake! There are individual cabins as well as cabins that can sleep as many as 12. There is a restaurant that serves 3 meals a day, and some cabins have kitchens so you can cook your own.
Strathcona Lodge is a truly delightful place to be. Having visited as part of a school program, the experience we had was top notch. The food was delicious, the staff were all kind, knowledgeable, and passionate, and the place itself is stunningly beautiful. Everything was well organized with great care given to ensuring our group had a successful trip.
